The
Butternut Area Business Alliance is a group of individuals, businesses,
and organizations in the Butternut community formed together with the
primary goal of marketing and promotion of all this great area has to
offer. Our early goals and projects include area identity, marketing
techniques, area beautification projects, website development, and
addressing wants and needs of our members.
We are
currently a committee of the Butternut Village Board and are in the
process of obtaining our own 501C-3 status as a non profit
organization. This will enable us to apply for several grant programs
currently not open to us. One of the first advantages of this alliance
was that we now have a voice in the marketing strategies of Ashland
County. We have a seat on the Ashland County Tourism Board which is a
great resource for helping market our area. We now also have the
opportunity to work directly with neighboring Chambers of Commerce.
Our
membership is open to anyone interested in the sustainability of our
community and does not have any geographic limits. Besides having
members from Butternut, we currently have members from Glidden, Park
Falls and the Flowage ares. We only ask for a small membership fee of
$50 which goes directly to marketing campaigns, website maintenance,
and operating costs. Of course, any other donations above the
membership fee would be greatly appreciated.
Some
of our recently completed projects include establishing a logo for the
Village of Butternut, renovating the entrance sign on the south end of
town, establishing a Visitor Center at the Village Hall and Butternut
Feed Store, and designing an ad for placement in the Ashland County
Tourism Guide. We are also currently working on the Butternut Boulevard
Banner Program. This project is aimed at replacing the worn out
Christmas decorations the Village of Butternut currently has with 2' x
6' double sided street banners. Half the banners would remain
permanent, welcoming visitors all year long, while the other half would
be either Christmas themed banner or a flag banner depending on the
season. This will add a lot of "curb appeal" to our town and enable us
to show just how much community pride we have.
BABA
is also involved in: maintaining this website, collating our area's
calendar of events, fundraising for specific events or projects, and
developing future projects. We will also be playing a more active role
in our annual Pioneer Days celebration and Butternut Community Fair
taking charge of specific areas of marketing and events.
If
you would like to be a part of this pro-active organization or if you
would like any more information, please feel free to contact us.
