Village of Butternut Departments
  • The Village President is responsible for the legal and general administration of the villlage.

 

  • The Clerk/Treasurer's office is the legal custodian of the Village's official records, budget, and financial reports. It serves as a public information center.
  • The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the Village streets, sidewalks, curbs, storm sewers and trees in order to provide safe passage through our town and present an attractive and clean appearance.


      
  • The Butternut Volunteer Fire Department responds to fire and medical calls. Persons that have received First Responder training also respond to fire and medical calls.

 

  • The Butternut Parks & Recreation Department provides the area with many exciting forms of recreation.

 

  • The Water Department cares for the Village water facilities. In 2001 the Village was selected as having the Best Water in the State and second Best in the Nation.

      The Village Clerk/Treasurer office is the legal custodian of the Village's 
official records.  It serves as a public information center. The office is 
responsible for the administration of elections, legal notification to the
public, the issuance of licenses and permits, the preparation of the official
minutes and agendas for Council, manager of all city insurance's, manager
of personnel records, CDL records, safety policies, etc.


       The office provides administrative support of all department heads,
the Common Council, boards, commissions and committees, and responds
to informational requests from the general public.  The office is responsible 
for collecting, depositing, and investing city funds.  This includes the
maintenance and duties associated with all-financial records, billing and
collections, payroll, investments and cash management, and property tax 
collection.  Report and file documents to the federal and state agencies on
several issues, such as, municipal boundaries, annexations, FCC, census,
TIF, W-2's. etc.


      The data processing responsibilities are also handled by the Clerk/
Treasurer's office. This includes administration and maintenance of the 
Village's hardware and software issues, as well as support on an individual
basis (troubleshooting).


       The Clerk/Treasurer reports to the Village President.
